Cairns Coast Freediving Club is hosting the AFA CMAS National Pool Championships from Friday, November 14 to Monday, November 17, 2025, at Tobruk Memorial Pool in Cairns. This competition will be conducted under CMAS rules and is open to all AFA members.
BFC is excited to announce the last pool dynamic competition for 2025! This one-day-only competition will take place on ** Saturday 25th October ** under AIDA rules. The athletes should choose one dynamic discipline. All dynamic swims will take place in the 50m indoor pool (DNF, DYN, and DYNB). Even for DNF the pool will stay in the 50m configuration. Visit BFC Facebook event page for more details
On Monday 13th Oct, the kiddie pool is not available for the regular STA session. Exceptionally, we will have access to the 50m pool. A great excuse to have a Max Night! Especially as the club is running a dynamic competition at the end of the month! On Monday, the attendees will have the opportunity to attempt a long swim with the peace of mind that they are escorted on the surface by a trained safety diver. The conditions are identical to those in an AIDA competition. The swims start with a 2 minute countdown and end with the completion of a surface protocol to validate the swim. The surface protocol is there to demonstrate to the judges that the athlete is still in control. The surface protocol requires the swimmer to perform in this order the following actions: (1) removal of their facial equipment (noseclip, goggles or mask if any), (2) make on OK sign in the direciton of the judge, and (3) say " I am ok". It is much more fun than it sounds! :-)
